Eglise d’Agerola
Agerola is a few tens of minutes from localities like Amalfi, Positano, Ravello, Pompei or Sorrento, it is a place well placed to enjoy the area, with day trips.
It is also a starting point for the Path of the Gods, the most spectacular hiking trail on the Amalfi Coast.
At about 600 meters above sea level, in the heart of the hills of a green valley, as suspended between the blue sky and the sea, Agerola is surrounded to the north by three high mountains from 900 to 1400 meters. In the south however, the valley opens on the Amalfi coast and on the Gulf of Salerno. In this landscape, there are market gardens, including the famous lemon trees of Amalfi, mountain farms, sheep farms, and woods.

The steep slopes down to the southern coast are cut by spectacular gorges.
The name of Agerola probably derives from the Latin word Ager, which means “vast field”. This, and the discovery of many artifacts of Roman times, confirms the ancient origins of the village.
In the past, Agerola was fully part of the Amalfi Republic, it was the main source of wool, which was used in particular to build the boats of the Amalfi fleet.
